Rachel & Ripley - The Pitch

The British public – an unsuspecting, friendly bunch, especially when approached by attractive people holding a microphone. Our presenters, Rachel Pether and Deacon Ripley, go onto the busy streets of a generic town to ask members of the public about their daily habits, chores and various hobbies. However the unsuspecting interviewee is actually being asked a far ruder and personal set of questions, which are revealed in the presenters’ introduction.

They consist of taboo subjects that people generally wouldn’t feel comfortable discussing with a stranger. One example is asking people about their water drinking habits as a code for their sexual habits:

  • How many times a day do you have water?
  • Do you make sure you have it regularly while you’re at work?
  • Do you think it helps to ease a hangover?
  • If I were to offer you one beer or unlimited water, which would you prefer?
  • The UK is having a drought period at the moment, and we’ve been asked to cut down on the amount of water we consume…have you been following this? What measures have you been taking? Gone are the days you can run around the garden playing with the hosepipe, don't you think?

There is an endless supply of topics and counter topics for discussion, and the concept could be expanded to include interviews with celebrities, politicians, sports personalities etc. The use of props is not to be discounted.

The questions asked will be topical, informal and open for discussion. The comedy element is achieved through the serious answers given by the members of the public combined with the deadpan interactions of the presenters.

The beauty of Rachel & Ripley lies in its versatility - it can be filmed anywhere in the UK, costs are minimal, and the stars are the members of the general public.

Rachel & Ripley will captivate viewers with its freshness, wit, charm and madcap presenters.
