The Magic of Dance

Available for purchase nationwide, in stores and online.

Based on an original idea and concept created in 2005 by Maria Slough, ‘The Magic Of Dance’ was inspired by her fervour to take dance out of the traditional ballroom settings and into exciting environments that will sweep you off your feet and into the world of film set fantasy.

As the Managing Director of Deep Water Films, under the management arm of the company, Maria was working with the talented Camilla Dallerup.  Maria envisaged the production of a DVD of Hollywood style performances set against the background of a magical feature film canvas, alongside 21st century teaching techniques to people of all ages.

Camilla and her professional dance partner Ian Waite were in the producers minds the artistes who would embrace the whole concept and deliver the variety of skills needed in choreography, performance, teaching and presenting. Sit back and watch as Camilla and Ian set your screens and your hearts alight.

Full scale production of The Magic of Dance commenced at the dawn of 2006 and united the partnership of Deep Water Films and Classic Pictures, both located at the legendary Shepperton Film Studios to bring the project to fruition.

Along with Maria and Dawn Slough of Deep Water Films, the production has been lovingly managed by co-founders of Classic Pictures, producer Lyn Beardsall and director Robert Garofalo.  Utilizing his broad experience of working with artistes of the highest calibre and his flare for multi-camera shooting, live stage show production and grand visualisation, Robert Garofalo’s magical touch and unique eye for lighting fills the screen.  Robert, the producers, the stars and the dedicated crew have brought these remarkable, provocative and moving dance performances to life.

Drawing on inspiration from each dance style featured in The Magic of Dance, filming commenced across various locations in Britain; ‘The Waltz’ filmed during the night on a rooftop in London against the stunning backdrop of Chelsea Bridge and the skyline of our capital city, the ‘Samba’ on the beach and the ‘Quickstep’ filmed at a magnificent 30's mansion in the Surrey Hills.

With the Deep Water and Classic Pictures production houses ideally based at Shepperton Studios, the producers were able to secure perfect locations for filming additional sequences showcasing the ‘Cha Cha’ in the glorious Orangery and the ‘Jive’ in the Grand Hall of the Old House, amid the ghosts of the Carry On legends set to wonderful musical themes.

Utilizing Classic T Stage as a home for the stars Camilla Dallerup and Ian Waite to perform their studio dance sequences, post production for the project was also completed at this facility along with the filming of the dance student auditions and ‘personal tuition’ section for the comprehensive special features section of the DVD.
